we could hear the trains again.
Pairing: Zach/Chris
Rating: PG-13 (mild profanity.)
Word Count: 296
Disclaimer: Lies, lies, lies.
A/N: Short drabble written during the epic procrastinating hour of epic procrastination. Unbeta-ed.
When Zach looks into Chris' eyes, he tries to see past all the clichés and the purple prose. They're not the bottomless pools of clear skies after a rainy day, nor are they wistful hues that sing emotions even the deaf can hear because one: hues are colors, not organs, and two: it's Chris and he's human, so therefore, his eyes shouldn't be as enigmatic as everyone makes them seem.
Zach tries to cheat by taking a picture of Chris and analyzing it via Photoshop, but the program just spits back a jumble of letters and numbers that aren't a real, pronounceable color. So he asks around.
Well, he asks Harold, but the cat just glares a "Fuck off, you obsessive freak," glare and goes back to sleep. Noah simply stares up at Zach, ready to catch his ball, should Zach ever decide to throw it. "You don't think Chris is a 'Rubik's cube of literature and charm,' do you?" Zach asks him. Noah blinks.
He turns back to his computer as it pings the arrival of new e-mail.

Zach opens the attachment and Chris pops up in dimensions bigger than Zach's desktop can contain, but Chris is right, it is a good picture. It's simple, just Chris and a small stuffed elephant.

It snows in NYC.
He looks at the picture again, and this time, really, really focuses on Chris' face. Stubble. Acne scars. Sincere, happy smile. Then finally, his eyes, and when Zach looks into Chris' eyes, he sees blue and a whole fucking lot of it.

It also reminded me of that other picture taken in NYC, with Chris and the red hankie in his back pocket, hahahaha. XD
