Date: 2010-02-20 06:52 pm (UTC)They can’t talk and it's a relief because talking could mean talking themselves out of it, and they can’t leave the room because that means making a choice instead of just being swept up in the moment.
I want no talk and no eye contact- I want the guys to be futilely holding onto the notion that they can say ‘it just happened’ ‘I was still mostly asleep’- until the very end. I want the only things that are said are each others names- which destroys any of their planned excuses.
Because of the need to be quiet, I would love a focus on the other noises – the tv in the background, the rustle of clothing, zippers, skin against skin etc.
Snuggie 1/2
Date: 2010-02-21 05:50 am (UTC)Chris is slowly pulled from sleep by the dull pressure of something pointed pushing at his back. He lies still for a minute longer, wondering whether he should get up and just go to bed or continue to sleep on the floor among his friends.
“…so you don’t have to raise your heating bill! Blankets are okay, but slip and slide…”
He blinks and cranes his neck up to see the TV, watching the infomercial and slowly, slowly becomes lulled back into a light doze.
The pressure on his back sharpens uncomfortably and Chris opens his eyes and bites back a grunt of annoyance. Rolling over, he sees a long form facing away from him with an arm oddly twisted underneath. He notices the sharp elbow attached to the long, white limb, and glares.
“Zach,” he says so quietly that it’s mostly a breath. Bracing himself on his left arm, he leans over and gently shakes the sleeping man, looking around the room at the others sprawled on his furniture and floor.
He thinks with all the drinking and laughing and food binging they partook in that Zach would be harder to wake up, but when his eyes complete their sweep around the room and come back to his friend, he takes in Zach’s dark, calm eyes.
“…when you reach for things the blanket falls and tangles, leaving your hands cold…”
Zach rolls onto his back and stretches – not just any stretch, but a Zach stretch, all long and arching and yoga-ish. Chris thinks this is quite the impressive feat considering Joe’s feet are inches away from the tops of their heads.
When Zach’s elbow makes a clicking sound as he begins to fold in on himself again, Chris turns his head into his pillow and laughs softly.
A punishing poke against his ribs only makes him grin harder and he turns his face to let Zach see his glee. With the light that the TV is throwing, he can see Zach roll his eyes; he reaches over to the other man and pushes slightly against him. They both listen for a minute to the sounds around them; someone’s cell phone is vibrating, the soft sounds of Zoe breathing deeply, someone on the couch snoring. The infomercial drones on.
“…why have them when they cause so much trouble? Why not try a Snuggie instead?”
Zach’s delayed retaliation to the shove is to grab Chris’ hand and…do something. Chris is expecting a vicious pinch or a sharp pull on his arm-hair, knowing that games of any kind often escalate and become too real for Zach. Instead, there is nothing. Zach just holds onto his hand and Chris isn’t sure whether to be alarmed or pull himself closer to the other man. He’s been waiting for this moment for a while, all the flirting and word-play and time spent together on the phone or in the car or at their houses. He’s pretty sure Zach is looking at him and he has wanted nothing more for months than to look into those dark eyes and lose himself in them. But suddenly he can’t. He’s frozen in this moment of Snuggie infomercials and Anton rolling around on the love seat.
It’s Zach’s thumb rubbing circles on his pulse-point that does it. He reaches back and tugs a blanket over both of them, effectively dimming what little light they already had. He tries to look at Zach.
Zach isn’t smiling, not really, but he looks pleased nonetheless. Chris watches the other man scoot closer and then they are nose-to-nose. And then Chris has to close his eyes because everything has gone cross-eyed and blurry.
When Zach’s kiss comes, it is not unexpected, but Chris stiffens anyway. He doesn’t pull away though. There is an awkward moment where their lips are touching but nothing is happening. Zach murmurs something against his lips and Chris opens his eyes.
Then Chris breaks.
He clenches his eyes closed and pulls Zach against him.
The infomercial switches to the Cuisinart, the snoring becomes louder, there is deep breathing and blankets rustling all around – an unlikely backdrop to their lovemaking.
Zach leans over Chris and places a tender kiss on his brow. “Bedroom,” he breathes against the younger man’s ear.

Say there was this ‘paparazzo’ person who took the above mentioned pictures last summer of Pinto. And say that person found themselves with a bag over their head and pulled into a hybrid not 10 minutes after submitting them to a certain media outlet. Say they found themselves in an under lit (yet impeccably styled) office where things like ‘I thought we had an understanding’ and normal sounding words like ‘livelihood’ and ‘consequences’ and ‘kneecaps’ suddenly took on a more sinister meaning.
See, I could tell you that story… but you know what happened to that paparazzo when they ignored the polite threats and tried to take the pictures to another media outlet?
(No, they didn’t kill the paparazzo. No, what they did was far, far worse…)
The paparazzo is now permanently assigned ‘Chris getting coffee in a white t-shirt duty.’
